I got this book originally because the author had been the mother-in-law of a dear friend of mine. But the view it gives of the families, especially upper class families, in England during the WW 1 is unique. The mix of the every day with the horrors of the Front, the mundane with the savage is marvelous and scary too. A must read for WW 1 history buffs.
