Well, I had really high expectations based on some of the reviews and praise by other authors. It was an ok read but, first half of the book was really entertaining but then things slowly took a turn for the worse. Plot was quite predictable and some of the statements like "who knows what a dead body can do to a river's ecosystem" were simply ridiculous. There is definitely room for improvement.

On the other hand, bigger names in the industry disappointed me more, so because this is the author's first novel I'll rate it 4 stars.

Maybe great. So many themes addressed and excellent narrative drive. I read all of Jack London when I was young, fifty years ago. This novel seems as good or better. Love and loss run through it like a half frozen river, powerful and beautiful. lamyers
Reads as if written as a memoir of a teenage girl. With about as much insight. Boring, and completely uninteresting.
Loved this book! It was smooth and easy to read. The story was very believable. The characters were very well fleshed out. There was not only surviving but, surviving in the Yukon! There was the right amount of suspense, action and even a love interest! I will follow this author!
Great book! Had a hard time putting it down and could really experience seeing the world through Gwendolynn's (deal with it Lynn) eyes. It's one of those stories that every once in a while you realize you're reading standing up because you care so much about the characters. Looking forward to the next one!
When I received this book in my PageHabit box, I had not even heard of it. Oh, what a great surprise it was! I loved it. Great characters, great writing - just a big bunch of goodness between two covers. If you like post-apocalyptic, survival, edge of your seat suspense, this book is for you.

This is a first novel for Tyrell Johnson and I sure hope another is in the works. I will be first in line to purchase it.
I loved this book, from start to finish. I love post apocalyptic books and was glad that this one didn't have a lot of the zombies walking around, munching on people. This book is entirely possible if a flu outbreak spread across the world. . Definitely make you stop and think. Very well written, please write more like this.
This book is listed as a best fiction for 2018. I hope there are better books out there this coming year. It was ok. There was a bit of redundancy that was unnecessary and fairly easy to guess the ending. It is a quick read and a very cold winter read . I would recommend it to those who enjoy post apocalyptic as it has s bit of a different twist. It is also a bit scary to read during flu season.
